Various Strains of Influenza, SARS-CoV vs Ebola: The Hypocrisy in Visa Denials

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV) Coronavirus (CoV) is an illness associated with symptoms such muscle pain, headache, and fever, followed by a in 2–10 days of onset of respiratory symptoms, mainly cough, dyspnea, and pneumonia. According to the journal of infectious disease, it is an air borne disease that could be transmitted in an air craft or in the hospital where infected individuals are being treated.

Ebola is a virus disease with symptoms that surface days to weeks after contracting the virus. It starts with a fever, sore throat, muscle pain, and headaches. Then typically, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys. after which affected people may begin to bleed both within the body and externally. The virus is acquired upon contact with blood or other bodily fluids of an infected human or animal. Spreading through the air has not been documented in the natural environment

Back in 2002, SARS was identified in China and in 2003, there was an outbreak in Asia. There are different types of influenza strains and plagues all over Asia, Europe and north-America. Why is this Ebola thing being described like a disease you contract through hear say? From the little experience Nigerian medical professionals have gotten so far, if you contract Ebola and get proper medical care, you have a very high chance of surviving it. Now, the Chinese embassy is denying students visa on grounds of Ebola, a disease you can only get through physical contact with the body fluid of an infected person. Compare that to an air-borne Asian killer disease. Sigh.
