The east Africans got their first ever automated teller machine installed in the capital Mogadishu. The machine is operated by Salaam Somali Bank and located in a luxury hotel. At the moment, the machine only dispenses the commonly used U.S. dollars as many customers prefer it over the Somali shilling. It also allows people to withdraw money from international bank accounts, using cards such as Visa and MasterCard, the report added. The bank plans to install more machines in other areas of Mogadishu in the future.
