Malala Yousafzai the Pakistani teenager who survived a Taliban execution attempt has been awarded the 2014 noble peace price. The taliban tried to kill her because she wanted to attend school and after surviving the attack she started to globally advocate for the freedom girls and women to get education.
Organization for the Prohibition of chemical Weapons (OPCW) beat her to it last year because they were able to smooth talk Bashar al-Assad to part with his cache of chemical weapons. Malala shares the noble price with Indian children's right activist Kailash Satyarthi, a long time active advocate against India's child labour. The two activist were both awarded the noble peace price "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education".
