President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, as the new Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr Obi’s appointment was announced on Monday. According to the presidency, his appointment is to take an immediate effect. President Jonathan also confirmed the appointment of the Acting Director General, Mounir Gwazo, as the Director General of the Commission.
If all goes well, Mr. Peter Obi is expected to spend a few weeks in office to do what he is appointed to do. His antecedents include Fidelity Bank, Future View Securities, The defunct Guardian Express Bank and Anambra state.
